International Zebra Day
Zoological Garden, Alipore organized ''International Zebra Day” at Alipore Zoo campus on 31st January,2024 from 11 a.m. There was a session of discussion about zebra by the Zoo Team (Director, Deputy Director, Asst. Director, Veterinary Officers, Zoo Biologist, Dietician and other staff) about Captive management of zebra. Spot quiz session regarding Zebra by Zoo Biologist and Dietician, enthusiastic visitors including children and school students participated in the program.
Inauguration of various enclosures by Hon’ble Chief Minister, West Bengal
Hon’ble CM, WB, Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay inaugurated 5 no. of projects of Zoological Garden, Alipore through virtual mode. The following dignitaries attended the programme from Zoological Garden, Alipore premises- 1.Shri Aroop Biswas, Minister of Sports, Power, Housing and Youth Affairs., 2.Smt. Mala Roy, Hon’ble MP Kolkata (South) 3.Smt. Birbaha Hansda, MOS Forest (IC) 4.Smt. Debalina Biswas, Councilor, Ward No-74, Borough-9 5. Shri Vivek Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest 6.Shri Niraj Singhal, PCCF (Head of the Forest Force), West Bengal 7.Shri Debol Roy, PCCF(Wildlife)and CWLW, West Bengal 8.Shri Saurabh Chawdhuri, MS, WBZA and other dignitaries and officers were also present. The following projects were inaugurated: 1. New Conference Room and Training facilities 2. Expansion of Zebra night Shelter and enclosure area 3. Renovation of Chimpanzee enclosure 4. Quarantine suspended cages in Rescue Centre for birds 5. Renovation of Veterinary Hospital, Installation of CCTV System, Postmortem room and hospital gate.


Short Training for the DVM Intern student from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh
A 3-day long training was organised for the visiting intern students from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh on 10 to 12th February, 2020 at the Zoological Garden, Alipore. About 85 students along with 3 faculty members participated in the training programme.
International Tiger Day
International Tiger Day...a day to appreciate the beauty, grandeur and importance of our National Animal.... BENGAL TIGER. Every year, at Zoological Garden, Alipore we take this opportunity to create awareness among young students by organising interactive programmes for them. But this year it is a little different, as we are in a lockdown situation due covid-19 pandemic. But we should not waste any opportunity to create awareness about wildlife. So, we are using this platform to spread knowledge about our National Animal.


World Environment Day
Celebration of World Environment Day at Zoological Garden, Alipore on 5th June, 2020. Amidst the Coronavirus and Amphan situation we thought the best way to celebrate the day is by planting trees. Sal, sonalu , kurchi, bahera , ritha ,basanta sundari, yellow palash , mahul etc at were planted at zoo. Amphan has taken away about 40 nos of old tree. We will plant about 2000 tall tree during the month of june - july.
Inauguration Programme, 10th December
Innauguration Programme attended by HMIC UD &MA and Mayor KMC Janab Firhad Hakim ,Hon’ble MP Kolkata(South)Mrs. Mala Roy,Hon’ble Mos Forest,Smt. Birbaha Hansda and other dignitaries- 1. Distribution of 2 ambulances,10 battery operated carts under thr MPLAD Scheme 2. Innauguration of new animal enclosures & other facilities 3. Innauguration of white tiger enclosure under SBI CSR Scheme. 4. Souvenier shop selling different items with branding of ZGA .


World Giraffe Day
Zoological Garden Alipore celebrated World Giraffe Day on 21 June, 2024. An open quiz competition was organised for visitors. Discussion on Zoo Management with College students. Photography Competition with Giraffe as theme was organized for Zoo Staffs. One webinar was organized on ‘Giraffe Management and Healthcare in Captivity'- in which officers and staff of Alipore Zoo, IGZP, Vizag,Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad, Harinalaya Mini Zoo participated and gave power point presentation to share the experiences about Giraffe.
World Wetland Day
“World Wetland Day”- celebrated on 2nd February,2024 in association with ‘NEWS’ at Zoological Garden, Alipore. There was a Poster presentation Competition for college students. 75 number of students from 2 no of university and 10 colleges were present.
